Zephyr™'s technology takes data from the body using smart fabric sensors. These sensors are comfortable, integrate-able and perform in the field under harsh environments and under extreme exercise.
Zephyr™ interfaces to custom and industry standard radio interfaces - treating the radio and internet link as a transparent pipe - to get the information to where it is needed.
Data is presented on Zephyr™'s PC or web applications making the data useful in the context of the situation and user. This may be to assist coaches in team training, medics involved in triage for injured people, or First Responder commanders concerned about the status of their crew-menbers..
Custom solutions and licensing also take place, with integration of Zephyr™'s technology into larger systems.
Sensors on the Body
Requirements for in-field sensing typically include:
-
works under extreme activity
-
works under high levels of moisture and sweat
-
does not encumber the wearer performing their tasks, whether mechanically or comfort or extra weight
-
low battery power ,low radio bandwidth for low cost and power requirements
-
can be supplied in high volume at a reasonable price
The Solutions
-
BioSense™ algorithms to cater for movement artifacts.
-
Data Fusion of multiple inputs to give contextual understanding to remote monitoring personnel.
-
BioSense™ algorithms analyze data inside the product, hence keeping local memory storage and radio traffic to a minimum.
Sensors Include
HEART RATE
full 32bit microprocessor analysis of EKG. options include EKG, heart rate, R-R, HRV, EKG noise, EKG amplitude
BREATHING RATE
full 32bit microprocessor analysis of breathing waveform using patented chest based sensor technology.
TEMPERATURE
medical grade pyrometer
POSTURE
using 3 axis accelerometer, the device removes the effect of gravity and can determine if an individual is laying down or standing up, giving important situational information as to what that person is doing.
ACTIVITY
level of activity in Vector Magnitude Units, VMU, which can be used to determine METS, and can be used to make energy expenditure (calorie) calculations even more accurate.
LOGGING
The BioHarness logs for up to 21 days to internal memory. Stored data can then be uploaded to various application software packages for further analysis.
RADIO
The BioHarness comes in several radio transmission options. Custom ISM 880/921 MHz, Bluetooth etc. Different wireless standards are being developed.
Testing
Zephyr has pioneered extreme physiological and biomechanical test protocols. These protocols are designed to test the limits of vital sign monitoring in the laboratory and the field.
With advanced test protocols Zephyr has insite into how products fail and hence how to design products that reliably perform under extreme levels of exercise and environment.
